- The Department of Children, Schools and Families announces the introduction of its ‘Schools Recruitment Service’
- The service aims to provide a more efficient and standardised application system to recruit permanent teaching and support staff
- The contract to deliver the service has been awarded to the Tribal Group – an organisation offering consultation, support and delivery services, focused on the public sector
- The service will provide an online system that will allow schools to advertise positions, and applicants to search and register online
- Candidates can also submit their job preferences for potential vacancies, and will receive “alerts” when roles are advertised that match their criteria
- The service is due to be launched this autumn, but candidates can start registering from the summer
- Nearly 100,000 teaching vacancies are currently advertised each year, plus a further 50,000 non-teaching and support staff positions
- Annual turnover of teachers is currently 20%
